The Law Alliance of New Zealand presents the Spirit of Aegis Award to a member of the legal profession whom has contributed in an outstanding way to their community.
Bill Dean was presented with the award by the executive of the Law Alliance of New Zealand at an intimate gathering of family, friends and clients in July 2012.
Bill has served as chairman of the North Otago Rugby Union for seven years (and has been on the board for ten) and in that time has significantly increased its profile. Under Bill’s leadership the N.O.R.F.U. has successfully developed key commercial and cultural partnerhsips both in Japan, the United Kingdom and in New Zealand while playing a large part in ensuring the relevance and viability of the Heartland Championship.
The N.O.R.F.U. is the country’s second smallest and in this light its championship victories in 2007 and 2010 together with a number of Ranfurly Shield challanges can be considered a major success.
The award recognises the recipient’s charitible efforts within their community and Bill’s win is an appropriate acclammation of his ten years voluntary and unremunerated outstanding service to rugby in the region.
